Spotlight on ... Community Car
The purpose of our community car scheme is to provide a service for people who are unable to use or have difficulty with access to public transport due to ill health, injury or a disability. Our aim is to help people with journeys to non-emergency medical appointments which they may otherwise be unable to attend. We cover doctors, opticians, hospitals etc in the Lanarkshire area.
All of our drivers are volunteers and we could not run this valuable service without them! All drivers are registered with us and PVG checked. They will collect passengers as directed and will wait to take them home if requested. Our volunteer drivers can assist passengers in/out of the vehicle. Should the appointment be a lengthy period, arrangements will be made for a later pickup.
We cover Larkhall, Ashgill, Netherburn and Stonehouse. Charges apply (including return journey), but you may be able to reclaim some costs from the hospital.
This is a self-referral service - so if you or someone you know would benefit, please contact Transport on 01698 888893.
