Photo of a lunch clubWe have 6 lunch clubs each week where members can enjoy a delicious two course meal with tea/coffee and biscuits.  In our LDVG centre, meals are available on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and are freshly prepared by the Heart of Africa team, a local charity working in partnership with LDVG.  The lunch clubs meet from around 11.30am til 1.30pm, and members often enjoy a game of bingo, cards etc before or after their lunch.

Members can either make their own way to the centre, or if living in the local area, can arrange to be collected and dropped off at home by our volunteer drivers in our accessible minibuses (subject to availability).

Our community-based lunch clubs are as follows:

  • Wednesday @ Hareleeshill Primary School from 11.30am til 1.30pm.
  • Wednesday @ Dalserf Primary School Community Wing from 11.30am til 1.30pm
  • Thursday @ Craigbank Primary School Community Wing from 11.30am til 1.30pm

The format is the same as at LDVG, but for these groups the meals are provided by the relevant school kitchens.

Here's what our members had to say:

“I really enjoy coming to the lunch club twice-a-week. The minibus picks me up from home. The bus has a lift and as walking has become difficult for me recently, I can now get out and meet people.”

“I love getting out and meeting new and old pals at the lunch club. The bingo afterwards is good fun.”

“I used to watch daytime telly every day and have a bite to eat when I watched Loose Women. The lunch club a couple of times a week has made a big difference and made me much happier.”
